![]() Danes Dyke (August 2008) The beach at Danes Dyke on the headland of Flamborough Head. The tide is fairly well up and rising on a warm, sometimes sunny day. The Dyke itself - running north from here for 2 miles and bisecting the headland - can be seen as a large V in the cliffs. Despite its name this impressive man made Dyke actually dates from prehistoric times and Bronze Age arrowheads have been found in excavations there. (Photo © Copyright 2008 JGD™) |
