On a very grey, cloudy Christmas day 1986 a whole
bunch of 37's were parked up at Hull Botanic Gardens MPD. Nearest the camera is 37176 - later to be refurbished (and painted RF grey)
as 37/7 37883 in December 1988. Also in view is 37058 - which was once (As D6758 from 1964 to 1967) a Hull Dairycoates allocated machine.
More recently, these two locos have both gone overseas - in July 2001 37883 (37176) went to Spain (along with 13 other Class 37's) to work on
construction of a new high speed line from Madrid to the French border, while 37058 went to France for a year in 1999 and then (along with 23
other Class 37's) went again in 2003 to work on the new high speed line from Paris to Strasbourg - this time being renumbered L28. |
