It was a rareity if i saw 37225 as lead engine
for some reason, but it's caught here under clear blue skies (leading 37083) at Killingholme airfield crossing on iron ore duties. 37225 began
its career, after leaving the English Electric Vulcan Foundry in 1964, as D6925. 22 years later it was a Immingham loco for 4 years (with
further Immingham short stints in 1994 and 1997 - by now in Railfreight grey livery) but by August 1999 it was in Storage and 10 months later
allocated for the dreaded "component recovery". Finally 37225 was yet another loco to be cut up at Booth's infamous scrapping yard at
Rotherham. |
