[Pic 22] Allt Ddu Quarry - Village Branch crossing II (Sept 2013)

There may not appear to be much in view here but this is (roughly!) where the Village Branch crossed the 'bus circle' as seen in Pic 8. The line curved towards camera from the embankment (behind the Freelander) and disappeared off towards Bonc Fawr embankment, located away to the left. Beyond the far trees, and running along the foot of the rockface, was the original horse tramway route (also mentioned in Pic 8) but this is now barely traceable.

[Pic 23] Allt Ddu Quarry - Health and Safety ! (Sept 2013)

The old road into Dinorwig qaurry, which used the old horse tramway route but now starts with the Village Branch embankment, is a useful footpath and has this modern safety sign at its start. I'm not too sure a lot of people take much notice of it though!

[Pic 24] Allt Ddu Quarry - Village Branch Embankment (Sept 2013)

The Village Branch left Allt Ddu on this quite steep embankment, along which the loco would earn its keep pulling a rake of wagons to the ease of gradient at the summit. Mercifully this structure survived the 80s landscaping.

[Pic 25] Allt Ddu Quarry - Village Branch Embankment II (Sept 2013)

Looking up the Village Branch embankment towards the summit. The camera doesn't really show the gradient. The old horse tramway route is converging in (on a more shallow but twistier climb) from behind the trees on the left and then runs parallel to the Village Branch from the distant summit.
