[Pic 34] Allt Ddu Quarry - Up and Down (Sept 2013) A final look at the two routes shows how the Village Branch climbed up to Mills level - but the Horse Tramway actually dropped down slightly as it entered the mill complex. |

[Pic 35] Allt Ddu Quarry - End Wall (Sept 2013) Looking at the (north west) end wall of the mill. As mentioned this is the sole remaining mill remains on this level* (the Dinorwig site has lost some fine examples of large mills yet still has several excellent remains hidden away on the higher galleries, Australia level in particular) but only the walls of this structure now remain - at least there is still a sense of how large this building once was. Note how the ever expanding waste tips encroached on the mill from behind ! * Often refered to as the 'Village Level' or 'Steam Mills' |

[Pic 36] Allt Ddu Quarry - Interior (Sept 2013) Not much remains inside the mill, the twin roof has long gone, along with the vertical beams that supported the central roof truss. All the saws were sold for scrap shortly after closure of the quarry - along with anything else the scrapmen could carry away! |

[Pic 37] Allt Ddu Quarry - South Eastern Wall (Sept 2013) A view of the south eastern wall and the rockface cutting needed to make room for the corner of the mill. Note the thickness of these walls - they built them to last! |
