[Pic 29] Cwmorthin Quarry - New Cross Mill (1995)

This is the new modern Cross Mill - the construction of which wiped away completely all remains of the old building. Not too sure that i would have built it so close to the river though. Also in view is the relocated footpath along the opposite side of the valley (just below Cwmorthin Cottages) and the washed away modern footbridge of the old route, which has landed a little downstream from the base of the Lake Incline where it once bridged the Afon Cwmorthin for a short while.

A third view of the Lake Adit - chosen not just because it was taken on a rare sunny day at Cwmorthin - but because it shows how the entrance (and the big tip above) were becoming very derelict since use of the adit had ceased. Today this has become the only safe way to gain access to Cwmorthins huge underground remains.
